Payment Services at Nedbank facilitates and manages the bank’s client payment obligations. The team oversees end-to-end payment operations to ensure accurate, timely transaction processing, while performing reconciliations to protect financial integrity and resolve discrepancies. Remediation activities identify, investigate and correct payment process errors and exceptions. The Remediation team also delivers a critical compliance mandate, including sanctions and transaction screening and South African Reserve Bank (SARB) reporting for cross-border transactions. Operations Effectiveness partners with Payment Operations, Reconciliation and Remediation to drive efficiency and continuous improvement through data insight dashboards, best-practice controls and compliance oversight. It further monitors and escalates system outages that impact payments and associated regulatory processes. Together, these functions provide secure, reliable payment solutions that enable customer satisfaction.

The COO Office focuses on housing key Centers of Excellence, driving Strategic Projects for CSD and Operational Execution. The Centres of Excellence include Operational Excellence, Change Enablement, Process Optimization and Risk and Controls. Of the strategic projects we are currently driving, one of them is the implementation of a Priority Service Suite to elevate service levels for Transactional Services priority clients. From an operational perspective, Trade and Guarantees execution as well as Document Management services are additional functions in the COO Office.

The CSD Digital Office focuses on embedding artificial intelligence into how CIB employees work and how the business operates. Our work spans two key areas.

Stream 1 supports employees in responsibly adopting approved AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, to improve personal productivity, decision‑making, and AI literacy.

Stream 2 focuses on building AI‑enabled business workflows by identifying, prioritising, and rapidly prototyping AI solutions across CIB processes. Together, these efforts help improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, enhance client experiences, and ensure AI is used securely, responsibly, and with clear business value.

Together, these pillars position CSD to deliver resilient operations, unlock capacity, and strengthen client relationships at scale.

Client Onboarding and Regulatory Enablement (CORE), operating across South Africa and London, is responsible for the end‑to‑end onboarding of prospective clients, ensuring full regulatory compliance and enabling clients to transact seamlessly within the bank.

CORE serves as a critical governance gatekeeper, validating client information and performing comprehensive due diligence to ensure all regulatory and policy requirements are met prior to transacting across all products. The team also delivers end‑to‑end onboarding for Treasury Services–related products for CIB clients, encompassing KYC, product activation, and ongoing maintenance.

The value CORE provides is anchored in reducing regulatory risk, enhancing the client experience, and accelerating time‑to‑revenue through efficient, scalable, and well‑controlled onboarding and client servicing processes. In addition, CORE supports EXCON services and approvals for international and high‑risk transactions, enabling compliant cross‑border activity.

By partnering closely with business, risk, and compliance teams, CORE delivers robust control frameworks, continuous due diligence, and sustainable onboarding and maintenance capabilities that support growth while maintaining regulatory assurance across both regions.

Sales and Service Enablement equips banker and service teams with the digital capabilities, tools and insights needed to serve clients consistently across the end-to-end client journey. We design and enable solutions that standardise sales pipelines, streamline service processes and provide a single, trusted view of client interactions and data. By embedding platforms such as D365, automation and AI-driven insights into everyday ways of working, we improve productivity, decision‑making and client experience. Our role is to partner with the business to turn strategy into practical, scalable capabilities that support growth, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance across CIB.

The Juristic Digital Channels team owns and orchestrates the end‑to‑end digital journeys for juristic clients across Nedbank’s digital banking platforms. The team defines and executes the juristic channel strategy, shapes the channel value propositions on self-service and staff assisted channels, and drives the delivery, adoption and optimisation of digital capabilities across product onboarding and maintenance, account servicing and transaction processing. The team acts as the integrator between business, technology and operations to ensure secure, seamless and scalable client experiences, while monitoring performance, benefits realisation and client feedback to continuously improve outcomes.

The Trade Execution and Doc Management team delivers end‑to‑end execution of client transactions across trade, guarantees, and document management. The team supports the business by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of client instructions, safeguarding critical documentation, and enabling seamless trade fulfilment. Through standardisation, digitisation, and operational excellence, the Client Execution team aims to reduce risk, improve turnaround times, and enhance the client experience across Nedbank (CIB,NCB, Retail)
